Designing gardens for small spaces
A small garden needs the most carefully thought out design to maximise space efficiently. Vertical space becomes very important when floor area is at a premium and features such as walls and fences become a significant part of the design. A small garden should enable outdoor living by becoming an extra entertaining space or a place in which to relax. Planting should not be forgotten and choice of species becomes critical when every bit of green counts. Large plant varieties often work surprisingly well in small gardens and add shade and screening where required.
