Making a grand entrance
Sculptural centrepiece
The owners of this garden wished to enliven their existing asphalt drive with more planting and to incorporate a sculpture. We rerouted the approach to the house with a more practical layout including a roundabout and routes to a new garage block. Much asphalt was retained in order to reduce dig out and a new surface layer of resin bound gravel gave a beautiful finish. Sculptural suggestions were made and we helped the clients’ choose the David Harber Filium sculpture, which appears to float on the lawn with its bold purple interior and mirrored exterior. Shrubs, including Rhododendrons, Hydrangeas and Euonymus where mixed with ornamental grasses and herbaceous perennials planted in bold drifts.
