London Garden Design
Balance and symmetry
This garden in West London had good ‘bones’ in restpect to established trees, London stock brick walls and retaining structures between levels. Our challenge was to design a unified space that linked these features together in a coherent manner. Using beautiful reclaimed Yorkstone slabs we created paving and steps in a sinuous path through the garden.
Mediterranean style planting of ancient Olive trees with Lavendula Hidcote (English lavender) and drifts of ornamental grass (Deschampsia cespitosa) adds a softness and warmth that balances the hard landscape of brick and stone.
Evergreen pleached trees on the boundary add formality and important screening while taking minimal space from the centre of garden.
