Smooth lines and clean shapes define this garden in south west London.  Lush planting of the mixed borders soften these lines and add colour, texture and exuberance.  An upper entertaining area is enclosed with raised planters, bench and steps that are cleverly integrated together.

A simple hard landscape palette of sawn sandstone paving, timber and clean render gives a calming, spacious character.  Pleached trees add a touch of formality and increase privacy in a space efficient manner.  This formality is juxtaposed against the organic forms of the native birch (Betula pendula) and the ‘borrowed landscape’ of the neighbouring trees.
